When you start reading a book, the book always gives instructions (for example write down your goals, small achievements, etc.), and we never write just because we are in hurry mode and trying to complete the current book to mark as done.
We always think that we will do it after I finish this book that never comes into our lives in most cases.
Here we have to understand each book is a great mentor. A mentor always gives some action items to do and implement in your life. After completing one chapter of a book, just take a deep breath, make a summary/note of what you have learned. Is any actionable item is there to take on behalf of the chapter? Write down after that go for next chapter.
